The Leicester City Football Club formed in 1884 and actually stood as one of the biggest clubs outside the Premier League, however as history proved the team's dip in performance failed to see them return to Premier League until 2014. That being said, hardly anyone would have guessed that the Leicestershire side would find themselves champions of the Premier League 2015/16 season! Since then, Leicester City has been a shining beacon for hopeful teams trying to break through to the top ranks! Leicester City's Rich History

Founded in 1884 by a group of former Wyggeston School students, the club eventually joined the Football Association in 1890. Leicester City's distinctive royal blue kit has been a constant for most of their history, however, the iconic fox featured on their emblem, was actually introduced in 1948, due to Leicester's history regarding foxes and fox hunting. Then known as Leicester Fosse, due to financial difficulties the team was forced to disband after the league was resumed after the First World War. However, ever unperturbed the club reformed as Leicester City Football Club and enjoyed a moderate level of success in the '20s, before a downturn in performances saw the following decade spent mostly in Second Division. 1949 saw Leicester City's first ever FA Cup Final appearance, although they lost 3-1 to Wolverhampton Wanderers. 1957-1969 is widely considered to be the club's most successful period, representing the longest time they have stayed in top flight football. The club has long been associated with crisp manufacturers Walkers, and the company was their sponsors from 1987, until 2001 when they were bought by Thai travel retail group King Power. Considering Leicester City's Premier League 2016-2017 win, Leicester City tickets are almost guaranteed to be in high demand! Can Leicester keep up their phenomenal performance once again? Find out and buy your Leicester tickets now, in just a few simple clicks!

Oddly enough, despite their historic time away from the Premier League, The Foxes can still boast impressive silverware to their name, now adding their first Premier League title win to the mix. Prior to 2016, their highest ever finish was second in what was then known as Division One back in 1929. They also hold the joint-highest record for second-tier titles, after having topped the Second Division an impressive 6 times and winning the Championship title in 2014. Leicester has lifted the League Cup on 3 occasions, the last time being in 2000. Throughout their history they have always fallen short of achieving an FA Cup title, being runners up in 1949, 1961, 1963 and 1969.

Navigating King Power Stadium

Originally called Walkers Stadium, Leicester's decision to move to the stadium in 2008 was originally seen as a dangerous move as the team fell into relegation at the time of purchase! Considering that the stadium's construction put the team into £30 million worth of debt! Of course, all financial woes soon subsided when the team was acquired by billionaire Thai Vichai Raksriaksorn, and now King Power Stadium can boast some of the best facilities in the area!

The four stands that make up the stadium are as follows:

  • Marks Electrical Family Stand (North)
  • The Air East Stand (East)
  • The Spion Kop (South)
  • Upton Steel Stand (West)

The Away section is actually situated between Marks Electrical Family Stand (North) and Air Asia Stand (East), and all reports of the section seem to agree that the stadium's atmosphere is certainly worth the journey! As far as nearby waterholes, the Holiday Inn Express' Soaring Eagle Spur Steak & Grill, can't be any more ideal with the pub situated a minute away from the stadium!
