Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone, born 1928 in Rome, is an award-winning composer, conductor, and orchestrator. He is widely acknowledged as one of the most prolific and influential composers of his era, particularly recognized for his film scores. He has composed and arranged songs for over 500 film and TV productions, as well as classical pieces, and is well-known for his long-term collaborations with internationally acclaimed directors such as Sergio Leone, Brian de Palma, Barry Levinson, and Giuseppe Tornatore.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s he gained recognition for his Italian Western film scores especially for A Pistol for Ringo (1965), The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966), and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Starting in the late 1970’s, Morricone spread his talents to thriller, sci-fi and drama films such as Days of Heaven (1978), The Thing (1982), and The Mission (1986). His compositions are timeless as they are often reused and reinterpreted in films such as Kill Bill (2003), Inglourious Bastards (2009), and Django Unchained (2012). Morricone's noteworthy accomplishments include five Academy Award nominations,three Grammy awards, and five BAFTA awards.
