After the unfortunate loss of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, drummer Dave Grohl made a stand, and returned to the music scene after founding his new band in 1994 in Seattle! With the band now enjoying their twentieth year in the music industry, Foo Fighters have become one of our generation’s greatest rock bands. Over time, the band’s albums have won four Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album, so you know you’re guaranteed to hear some good music! You just need to get your Foo Fighters tickets and enjoy the show!
What you may not have realised is that a lot of Foo Fighter’s earlier material were written by Dave Grohl during his time with Nirvana. Standing as the drummer, he actually held back a lot of his material out of sheer awe and intimidation for the late, great Kurt Cobain! Occasionally booking studio time to record demos and covers, he released the songs under the pseudonym “Late!” and hardcore Foo Fighters fans may want to listen to Pocketwatch, as it’s definitely a great way to hear some of Grohl’s tracks at an early stage. Of course, after the unfortunate death of Cobain, Grohl actually stood as a very in demand drummer, and he almost accepted the position of drummer in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. As he has admitted later on in the Nerdist Podcast, returning to the drums still proved far too painful of a reminder, and playing guitar was a nice outlet to carry on creating music! Suffice to say, we at Ticketbis can’t be more thrilled with his choice with the band having produced a number of amazing songs, suffice to say Foo Fighters tickets are sure to be in demand!
In a bid to separate from his Nirvana origins, Grohl originally aimed to remain anonymous, recording and releasing fifteen songs created from the forty songs he had written during his time with Nirvana. With the exception of “X-Static”, Grohl played actually every instrument and sang all the vocals, and he originally chose Foo Fighters as the name of the collection of tracks. With the phrase originating from World War II; foo fighter was a term used to refer to UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects), Dave Grohl has since admitted that given more time he would have picked something more appropriate, saying: “Around the time that I recorded the first FF tape, I was reading a lot of books on UFO’s. Not only is it a fascinating subject, but there’s a treasure trove of band names in those UFO books! So since I had recorded the first record by myself, playing all the instrument, but I wanted people to think that it was a group, I figured that FOO FIGHTERS might lead people to believe that it was more than just one guy. Silly, huh?”
Of course, it wasn’t long before Dave Grohl enlisted the help of former Sunny Day Real Estate members bassist Nate Mendel and William Goldsmith, after Sunny Day Real Estate recently split up. While both Grohl and former Nirvana member Krist Novoselic talked about Novoselic also joining the band, they agreed that it would be weird for everyone else. Grohl also enlisted Pat Smear to serve as a second guitarist, having previously met the guitarist during his time as a touring guitarist for Nirvana. While the album was eventually licensed to Capitol Records, Grohl actually began releasing the album through his own record label, Roswell Records!
Undertaking their first major tour in nineteen ninety-five, including an appearance in England’s ever rocktastic Reading Festival, the Foo Fighter’s went from strength to strength! After a year and a half, the band found themselves in Bear Creek Studio in Woodinville recording their second album. Writing all the songs, with the band collaborating on arrangement, Dave Grohl took the rough edits with him to Los Angeles to finish-up the rest of the vocals and guitar. Unfortunately, Grohl realised how unhappy he was with the original mixes, and the band re-recorded everything. As can be imagined, this was hardly a good time for the newly formed band, with Grohl unhappy with Goldsmith’s drumming. Telling Goldsmith not to comeback, and that he was re-recording some of the drum tracks (When in actual fact Grohl had re-recorded all of the drum tracks). Feeling betrayed Goldsmith quit the band, while to this day Grohl still feels guilty for his decision, but remains steadfast in his choice to “give the record the right sound and make it successful.” Searching for a new drummer, Grohl originally asked Alanis Morissette’s touring drummer Taylor Hawkins for recommendations, but when he offered himself up for the role Grohl quickly snapped him up!
Needless to say, the band has become a beast that Grohl in his humble beginnings probably couldn’t fathom, with the band recently proving themselves bigger than the Rolling Stones! So don’t miss out and grab your Foo Fighters tickets now, here at Ticketbis!

We don’t do one of those little rock shows that last two hours; not that s**t, either. Basically, we play till we want to f*****g puke.” So, it’s definitely money well spent if you like rock music.
