The Championship is comprised of 24 teams and has two automatic promotion spots and three automatic relegation spots. The third promotion place is contested by the teams that finish between third and sixth place, with the Play-off Final being held at Wembley Stadium. Because of the money on offer when teams reach the Premier League, promotion from England’s second tier is highly coveted and top of the wish list for fans.

Last season in the Championship was one of the most exciting in recent times, with the last two play-off spots being still being available for four teams on the final day of the season.
