The Sharks Rugby League
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks Football Club first joined the New South Wales Rugby Football League (NSWRFL) in 1967 beating rivals the Eastern Suburbs at the Sydney Sports Ground in their first match. Sadly, that was not the start of a great run that year since they went on to finish bottom of the league that season. That was 50 years ago and the team is now one of the best in Australia. The Sharks play their home games at the Southern Cross Group Stadium which has a capacity of up to 22,000 spectators. They finally won their first NRL premiership in 2016 by defeating the Melbourne Storm at ANZ Stadium in an encounter that will be remembered for many years by fans of both clubs.
